Prepping for the winter season during the heat of summer.
As the sheering season winds down, I'm in a rush to get what I need at the best prices. When I first started out playing with fiber in a serious way I was paying top dollar and buying by the ounce. It took me less than a month to figure out that I was going to need a better source for fiber if I was going to be serious about entertaining this passion.
When I was making my first doll I knew that I was going to do it for the open market. I need to on some level. The same is true with spinning yarn, rope, and thread. I've been around livestock and know that raising them is not my thing; plus, where would the good creative time come from if my focus was on a fiber herd. [?] Finding good sources in this field is not like when I worked as a painter and could buy premium quality supplies almost anywhere for about the same amount of monies. Sources are guarded. Talk is minimal. I have finally found a local resource for whole fleeces that rocks. What I pay for a fleece now is less than what I was paying for an ounce of fiber in the beginning, and guess what... I ain't sharin' my sources.
This will be the best winter yet and it's not even fall.
I hope that the signs in your life all point you towards the best deals with the highest quality.
