In the photograph are some doll details for costumes. A silk velvet bag I sewed up and then heavily beaded with glass and stone beads. Really great antique rhinestones for trim on gowns and head pieces. Some pearls (real). The doll head is a tiny one, she is to be a doll's doll. I gave her a 60s go-go look. It is really not easy to needle felt on such a small scale with any real detail, but I did it. She has ears and full facial detail with a certain amount of expression.
I find that the work reflects what's going on in my life. Mostly reclusive with a rich interior. Writing and thinking. Spinning and felting. The days in the world at large are as few as possible. When I look at the details of my life now, I see pieces of lives I'm creating. Stories of adventure & loss. Beauty from odd angles. The dolls come to life from my adventures. As the details pull them together, so does the back story of what I'm thinking while creating them. A chain of sorts. Life woven into art -- into story.
Time and distance may be illusions, yet, the patina only these elements create sing a song. Do you hear your song...
